I saw a really interesting advertisement last week from Kmart. It’s called the “Ship-filled” campaign from Draftcb Chicago and it’s about the retailer’s new shipping services. Now shoppers can get items that they can’t find in the store shipped for free. It’s a good play off of another four-letter homophone (take a wild guess as to which one!). Here it is:

I like this commercial a lot because it’s a little risqué. It’s one of those things that when I first saw it, I kind of cringed a bit because I thought it’d be worse. The interesting thing is that it’s not a new feature what Kmart is doing. Walmart, JC Penney, Radio Shack, Toys R Us, Nordstrom, and other retailers have been offering the same free ship-to-store feature. But the campaign definitely makes Kmart stand out from its rivals because it promotes the service in a fun and memorable way. I hope that the campaign can help Kmart pick up steam for its future because Kmart has definitely been declining for some time now.
