Imagine picking up your girl on a first date, leaning in for a quick kiss, and then having her mouth smell like tangy pork fat. Talk about hot breath!
Well bacon-lovers will love this announcement: Proctor and Gamble will soon be launching a bacon-flavored Scope mouthwash. The new flavor is supposed to hit stores and the Internet tomorrow, April 1st. Last week Publicis Kaplan Thaler, a media agency in New York, released a video with P&G touting this new flavor:
Just to make things clear, the actual mouthwash won’t actually make their users’ breaths smell like bacon—it just tastes like bacon when they swirl it around their mouths (so that hot first date example probably won’t happen!). According to its website, the mouthwash “tastes like bacon, while still killing 99.9% of bad breath germs…And, it keeps your breath minty fresh 5 times longer than brushing alone.” There’s already a lot of stir going about the debut of the new flavor, especially over Twitter. Other brands like Oscar Mayer and Charmin have already shown their support in anticipation of the debut.
In my opinion, this is such a great way to cater to customer demand. This mouthwash will combine two features that customers care about the most: killing germs and bacon. Scope has always tried to create germ-killing mouthwash without the burning sensation that other brands leave (read: Listerine), but this may very well seal the deal and could make them the Number 1 mouthwash brand in years to come. So what do you want to see next for the bacon craze? Bacon-flavored soda? Bacon-flavored shaving cream? Leave me your thoughts below!
